Greenbelt Now

Brand Experience | UX Design

Project Overview

Greenbelt Now is a mobile app and interactive outdoor kiosk for Austin Greenbelt goers. You no longer have to guess whether or not there is water at your desired destination—Greenbelt Now includes water levels and speeds which are collected from gauges around the city. Users may also post photos and chat to get a feel for which location they wish to adventure.

Objective

To find an existing concept, rebrand it, and connect it with a physical space.

Approach

Because the Greenbelt is in Austin, Texas, the goal was to create a brand that reflects its culture. The fluid architecture of the logo and topographic lines convey differences throughout the Greenbelt, while the colors represent the scenery. The kiosk at the trailhead of each Greenbelt location allows the user to view the water levels, temperature, and choose a location to send a message to people who may be there. Users who have the mobile application may post pictures in the chat, ask questions to people who may be at specific locations, and respond to messages from the kiosk.
